- Ninib
- God of the summer sun in Babylonian mythology, akin to Nergal, god of war and of the Kingdom of the Dead, and the enemy of Marduk, the spring sun and god of vegetation, who dies and sinks into the underworld with the advent of summer. Ninib had a temple at Calah, mentioned in Genesis x. 11 as having been built by Asshur. He was also a god of storm and of fertility. He had two consorts, Gula and Baba or Bau. In Girsu, Ninib was known as Ningirsu. It was here that the festival of his marriage to the goddess Bau was held. Ninib is also called Enurta.
